Julie Henderson Speaks Out On Race “Hating” And “Gold-Digger” Accusations

Model Julie Henderson has penned a very controversial entry on Hip-Hop Mogul Russell Simmons’ web portal GlobalGrind.com about the flack she’s been getting for being seen too many times in public with him, for some people’s tastes.
I have been spending “special time” with Russell for about 4 months and in that time I have learned some subtle things about some in the black community that have surprised me. I must say that while it has been a bit of a challenge for me, it has also been a wonderful learning experience. I realize that in this day of Obama and change that there is still a tremendous amount of poverty, suffering and pain in the black community, and for that I am deeply sorry. But, I have to say the angry responses to those realities are sometimes misdirected….Just for the record, I am nobody’s white b*tch, gold digger or fame chaser. Nor am I any of the other mean things I have been called lately. I don’t need anything from anybody, I come from a good family and I’m a young independent “successful” model making my way in NYC. Finally, I just wanna say that Russell has been a great “special” friend and I’m sure as sh*t not giving him up cause some in America object to our friendship. I wanna close by saying, what Russell always says, Namaste. (That means the goddess in me recognizes the goddess in you)….Or, b*tch get your own man.

Of course on ModelsAndMoguls.com, we feel that Models dating Moguls is a time honored tradition….an institution even, that transcends race and nowadays, for some people, gender.
Models and Moguls are like cookies and milk; bees and honey; ice cream and cake.
Does this mean all Models who date Moguls are Gold Diggers?
According to Houston Chronicle, Julie Henderson earns an average of $7,000.00 dollars a day on her own, modeling and acting.
She’s also an heiress to a family Grapefruit fortune!
So she’s grown up with wealthy from a few generations back.
She may even have been raised with that “Old- Money” attitude that the average person doesn’t really understand (me being one of them), where it’s crude and vulgar to excessively think about, much less talk about money. (If you’ve happened to have the “privilege” of kickin it with some of these people, you’ll know what I mean.)
She’s just not going to relate or “be relatable to” by your average guy.
Her “first jobs” were modeling gigs commuting back and forth between Paris, New York and Milan.
By the time she was 16 she was working in New York and Europe. In 2002, models with figures could still find plentiful work for magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Elle Girl and Teen Vogue. Henderson has also done print ads for companies such as Benetton and Pantene. By the time she was 19, modeling for SI became her best route to big-time success. Source.
Like many women, she’s going to be attracted to men who can at least keep up with her, preferably exceed her, in terms of world knowledge, exposure and life experience.
What’s some pizza-delivery frat boy, her own age, going to be able to show her…that she hasn’t seen before?
Would it make people happier if she was getting smacked around by some groupie-love-drunk, twenty-something, rock-star, ball-player or rapper?
Only a card carrying, Old-School Mogul, like Uncle Russ, is going to be able to really broaden her horizons past the extraordinary life she already lives and not be intimidated or made insecure by her being an Amazonian, Heiress who can basically go anywhere and do anything she wants.

There’s more to it then simple “Gold-Digging”. Besides,as wealthy and successful as Russell Simmons is, there are hundreds of men around the world, with way more bread.
With all due respect to Uncle Russ, a personal role model of mine, he’s not even on the Forbes 400!
So if Julie was only about the money, there are many bigger fish swimming around out there for her to net.

I almost hate to say it, but we all know deep down, that what’s really bothering so many people about Russell Simmons and Julie Henderson is the interracial thing.
Personally, if you take a look at all the recent world events, I think you will see the writing on the wall:
If you want to truly be successful in whatever you field are in, you have to see past skin color under all circumstances.
(Unless you are really trying to climb the rungs of your local Skin Head chapter.)

This is for you Mr. Russell Simmons and your new girl who needs to get over her self. No one cares who you date but when a ignorant person says something stupid about dating a black man then we care. Bottom line shes not really smart and I'm sure your the last black man she will be dating after this. lol
This entire rant was all on some ignorant ish and now I’m annoyed. First of all, Julie, how did your blog title “B*tch Get Your Own Man” relate to the purpose you are attempting and failing to convey? Are you mad at the names a few people in the black–and white for that matter–communities are calling you because of your interracial relationship? Or are you mad because somebody is trying to take your man? Last I checked home wreckers come in ALL colors. And most of the gossip sites putting you on blast are not even run by black people. Do your research.
Your ignorance is obviously apparent, Julie, if you are just now learning about the perils in the black community since you’ve been dating Russell Simmons for the past 4 months. I can’t even begin to say how wack and ignorant that statement is. Not to mention that anything you “learned” about the “perils of the black community” while hanging out with Russ in the Hamptons, at million dollar charity events, during luxury trips overseas, in his private jet, or at his mansions…is not even scratching the surface of the black communities’ “perils”. So how about we only speak on what we know when it comes to such serious social issues as that. You know damn well you wouldn’t have come within 50 feet of a Hip Hop Awards show or a charity event for black disadvantaged kids had you not been Russell’s chick.
Keep your apologies ma, nobody asked for them. And honestly, it was condescending and arrogant as there was no reason for it.
I suggest you go back to smiling for the camera and spending your “special time” with Russ. Did he assign that title to your “relationship” or did you? I’m sure I already know the answer. But if “special” friend makes you feel special…then to each her own.
And bottom line, hardly anyone knew your name before you started dating Russell. So stop with the holier than thou act. It’s not becoming and is just really wack. If you feel salty about Russey’s ex Katie putting you on blast the other day, handle that ish with her. The sweeping generalizations about the black community were ignorant and completely unnecessary.
And finally, girl don’t nobody want your man. B*tch please.

The above poster stands as proof and testament to just the sort of ignorance that we in the black community like to roll and slop around in. Obama could be President and the WuTang Clan could be appointed to the cabinet, but this sort of loathing is still part and parcel of our community.
