Maggie Gyllenhaal, My Dark Style Muse

I like dark and interesting.
That’s why I like Maggie Gyllenhaal.
To me, she’s always been a dark and interesting individual.
She recently wed the father of her daughter Ramona, fellow actor Peter Sarsgaard, in Italy and has starred in mega money-making movies such as The Dark Night, Mona Lisa Smile, Adaptation and her latest, Away We Go.
Her talent and passion for acting may be highly praised but Gyllenhaal’s fashion sense, is greatly overlooked.
The world is so busy suffocating so-called-icons such as Katie Holmes and Heidi Montag that we don’t see what authentic style really is.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is one of the few true style icons Tinseltown has left, though she doesn’t get enough credit for the pieces she wears. She doesn’t show fear when it comes to standing out in mind blowing rich prints like the teal Lanvin animal printed dress she wore to the Golden Globes in January or the black floral strapless gown by Dries Van Noten she pulled off in NYC last summer.
Attitude is important when it comes to marking your style territory. One must feel like they have arrived. Maggie has always had a corky sense of humor that makes her stand out above other actresses. Her attitude towards life is uplifting as is her constant elegance.
There is something inquisitive about the way Gyllenhaal dresses. She has the kind of glamorous sex appeal we don’t see any more these days.
Whether she’s out shopping in NY in a denim sun dress or lying upside down on the floor in lace lingerie, you can’t look away. She draws you in with a curiosity unlike you’ve ever experienced before.
It’s like she’s full of secrets and you’ll do anything to know every single one.
At 5’9” one has to wonder why she didn’t become a model instead of an actress. I don’t think she would have become such a fascinating style icon had she pursued a modeling career.
Another great thing about Maggie Gyllenhaal is the remarkable way she looks absolutely gorgeous in every color. If you can name it, she can look good in it!
I’ve seen her in navy blue, gold, brown, an orange frock by Jean-Paul Gaultier, gray, eggplant, and an aqua cardigan. The woman can wear any color and get away with it. Her accessories are always light too. Just a simple handbag and earrings seem to meet her needs.
And I’m not too big into makeup and hair but that’s another area Maggie has down pat, from long flowy strands to a whacky bob. Her makeup is never over done like a Kardashian and I’ve never seen her sport a gross fake tan. Her body is always tightly toned and ready to be shown off.
So why do we only seeing risqué pictures of Victoria Beckham for Armani and Charlize Theron for Dior?
In order to even begin to achieve Maggie’s lady like style, a girl has to be fearless with prints and textures. You mustn’t be weary of vivid prints like florals and tribal prints. Anything different is right up Gyllenhaal’s style too. Taking risks in dramatic silhouettes is what gets many stars their claim to fashion fame. Think of Louis Vuitton’s belted fur vest from last fall. Maggie wore it and while she didn’t get good publicity for it, she wasn’t afraid of what people would say.
She knew she rocked the look.
Maggie is also seen in simple pieces too. She was spotted wearing a black dress under a long black coat and she added just the tight touch of color with a pink scarf. And how much simpler can you get with a brown cardigan over a denim dress?
Every girl makes a name for herself when it comes to style. Maggie Gyllenhaal has done just that and deserves more thumbs up for her style than she currently gets. Not only is she a bright actress, she’s an enchanting dresser.
Don’t worry Maggie, I got your back.
