Jay-Z isn’t the only rapper who can write a book.

Though Percy Miller aka Master P released his “how to succeed in life and business” book, “Guaranteed Success” all the way back in 2007, “it’s getting a fresh new look now considering the economy”

Okay so hip-hop bloggers are making cracks about P’s gold-plated toilets and…gold-plated tanks.

But P opened up the game for today’s true Rap Moguls. How many rappers were talking about owning their own masters and bragging about being “independent” before P. Everybody was trying to get signed.

From graphics, to promotion strategy, to beats…Master P totally changed how The Game was played, and when you think about it…was the first Hip-Hop Mogul to really take southern rap national(barring maybe J-Prince or Tony Draper)!

We can wise crack and make fun of his old stage antics (that we ate up when he was hot), after the fact.

But the truth is, Master P on his brokest day ever can hustle circles around the snickering Monday morning armchair quarterbacks.

You know, I once had a conversation with a former artist, still family member of P, who commented how Master P was extremely time conscious.

According to his cousin (or cousin-in-law), P would meticulously schedule all his activities (photo-shoots, studio time, etc.) and stick to his schedule like clock-work!

For many, this may not be the sort of personality trait that first comes to mind when you think of ole gold-toothed, Master P screaming “Unnnghhhh” and riding around on a Tank…but it might be one of the reasons he was once the richest man in Hip-Hop (I’m sure he’s still doin aight today) and one of the things he tries to pass on in his book.

The ancient Roman philosopher and politician Cato would say,

” A wiseman can learn more from a fool, then a fool can learn from a wiseman”

I don’t know about you fools, but this one’s gonna check out ole Percy’s book and see what he has to say.
